Fifth Annual Mayor’s Cup Kayak Championships

On Saturday if it seemed like there was a flurry of kayaks in the Hudson, you weren’t the only one to notice. Saturday was the fifth annual Mayor’s Cup Kayak Championships which takes racers, including veterans and disabled athletes, on a 28-mile course around Manhattan. We loved watching them compete and battle against each other and the flow of water. By the time they were in view from Battery Park City they had less than 6 miles left and were undoubtedly tired but still looked so graceful on the water that is usually filled with large-boat traffic. You can read more about the race here.
